Tempest Storm personifies the classic burlesque tradition. From her roots
as a poor sharecropper's daughter in Eastman, Georgia, she emerged as one
of the most enduring provocateurs in the entertainment arena. Parlaying
her beauty, talent, and fabled 39-1/2'' bust (which the press revealed was
insured for $1,000,000) into an icon of media mythology, the Titian-tressed
diva rubbed shoulders--and sometimes more--with Elvis Presley, Mickey Rooney,
Sammy Davis Jr., Hugh O'Brien, Nat King Cole, Englebert Humperdinck, and
John Kennedy, to become the only
stripper to play Carnegie Hall.
After the interview in PREVUE PIN-UP SPECIAL 2, we purchased every
costume that still remained in Miss Storm's repertoire, all working striptease
outfits, including some of her favorites, which have been worn in countless
performances, from Hollywood to Broadway. Because of inadequate surface
space, a few items could not be signed and instead have 3x5'' cards included.
All of the garments listed have a moderate degree of wear;
otherwise, exceptions have been noted.
